Police officers in Killeen, Texas arrested my brother and charged him with capital murder after a cop was killed in a botched no-knock raid. They thought Marvin was running a drug operation, but no drugs were ever found.
In Texas, we have a right to defend ourselves against intruders, and that is exactly what he did. Yet, he’s been in jail ever since.
For the last 8 years, Marvin has missed birthdays, holidays, family gatherings, and so much more. His family and friends miss him, and our community is incomplete while he is held behind bars.
The good news is we are making progress on his case — and that is because of people like you. The people-powered support we’ve received from the Grassroots Law Project has given Marvin a fighting chance.
Without that support, my brother and best friend could be stuck in jail — indefinitely — for a crime he did not commit.
Our new legal team — majorly funded by donors like you through Grassroots Law Project — is still fighting hard every day for Marvin’s release, but prosecutors have dug in their heels.
But we still have a long way to go.
Thank you for your time,
Garett Galloway
