In case you don’t know the story, Ronald was beaten, battered, dragged all over the ground, and electrocuted repeatedly with a taser by Louisiana State Troopers.
He did not fight them. He did not go for a gun. He said he was sorry. He said he was scared.
They joked about how much he was bleeding.
And he died. Of course he died.
But not only did the police murder him — the police, and other politicians including the Democratic Governor of Louisiana, covered this up. For two years. Many lied under oath. That’s a crime.
We still have a long way to go in this case but this is an incredible start that was made possible because tens of thousands of you took action with us to demand accountability.
This year has been one to remember for our movement, and these successes show just how powerful our movement can be when we call for justice.
And with your help, we can make sure that this work continues into the new year because the more that police officers are held accountable, and the more we get cities and towns to invest in real public safety solutions instead of policing, and the closer we get to reducing police violence nationwide.
