Digital & Motion Graphics Designer

Location: Remote, United States 

Grassroots Law Project is looking to hire a Digital & Motion Graphics Designer who will help produce the digital designs and motion graphic needs of Grassroots Law Project. The Digital & Motion Graphic Designer’s responsibilities will be split between assisting with digital design-related projects for social media and web, and motion graphics projects for videos. The Digital & Motion Graphics Designer should have extensive knowledge of graphic and motion design, styles, techniques. They will help to ensure that the creative team promotes the vision of Grassroots Law Project through high-quality content. In addition to skills and experience, the ideal candidate should have a deep commitment to racial justice advocacy. This position will report to the Lead Designer with general oversight from the Creative Director.

What you’ll do:

  • Create and design digital content for the web and social media.

  • Create supporting graphics (illustrations, etc.) for use in video projects

  • Develop and create explainer videos for various Grassroots Law Project campaigns

  • Collaborate with Creative Director and Media Director to best support larger media goals

  • Participate in brainstorming sessions to share new design perspectives and ideas

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge about the latest motion graphic and design techniques

  • Create graphic templates for easy use by other team members and client teams

  • Adhere to brand guidelines in ways that still push creative possibilities

What we’re looking for:

  • Prior experience with and a strong portfolio of design and motion graphics work

  • Proven visual storytelling skills, as demonstrated through previous work

  • Sound knowledge of Adobe Suite and common motion graphics design software

  • Experience with video editing software

  • Strong aesthetic skills with the ability to combine various colors, fonts, and layouts

  • A strong command of motion graphics and animation

  • Ability to be flexible with shifting priorities of the organization

Nice-to-haves:

  • Deep familiarity with social and criminal justice advocacy

  • Experience with electoral campaigns

  • Digital organizing skills

The salary range is $60-$80k, plus benefits including medical, dental, vision, 3 weeks PTO, 10 holidays, 3 months paid parental leave.
